Our school cited next to the sea, gave us the perfect opportunity to take action as responsible citizens. We organized ourselves by record, separate, declutter and gather all things not needed in a clean environment. Based on the collaborative learning and working as a team, students used critical thinking on a problem based environment in order to make decisions.
Their task was to leave behind them a cleaner seaside. While they were working the majority of them reflected on what people tend to leave behind them when they 're going to the sea. Some of them even said, that it would be a good idea to inform the public on how to behave while they 're having fun on the beach. People on the seaside asked them about the initiative. The students explained the philosophy of being an active citizen and invited them to join a common effort to make the world a better place.
The idea started from class. While discussing ocean pollution and how we are behaving when we are visiting the seaside, questions and ideas on how sea animals and humans co-exist emerged. Photographs and experiences from being in the seaside, watching people behave poorly for the environment were brought to class. Someone suggested that we would do something about it. Real scientists although program, revise and design their actions. We did the same. With careful thought we designed a form which you can see below and students after they selected things, they wrote down what they found in order to analyze and form conclusions on how people behave in the seaside and what they have to change.

For more than
one hour we kept selecting items and we understood that maybe things are not
always as they seem. Our students collected leftovers from cigarettes something
that lead them in two conclusions. One that adults should take a better care of
their health and secondly that maybe we as students should inform them on ways
to collect their cigarettes.
The day ended with all of us having spent nearly a day cleaning the beach next to
our school, feeling satisfied for being active and having contributed in a
cleaner environment next to our home. This action will have further activities
and discussion group within our class.
